Thumping board-breaking beach break. Can be a b-atch of a paddle out, perfect your duck diving before even trying. Closes out when windy, but when it has offshores, barrels are found.
Even though lots of people surf here, there is around 7km of beach so you can usually find a good uncrowded peak. It jacks up quick and pounds straight down HARD, so you won't find any longboarders here.
After surf session you will wish to have a picnic there with a beer and sea food specialty Chevice, with clear thoughts, great ocean view and a good company.
Drive south from Jaco Beach on the Coastal Highway 34, go around Punta Guapinol, come to a small town of hotels and some houses, take semi-paved road after last building, stop wherever you see a peak.
Takes about 5 min from Jaco, 20 minutes driving South from Dominical. Always people surfing/watching at "the Tree". The small town is sometimes called Pochotal on maps.
A couple Hotel right in Pochotal/Hermosa or you can stay in Jaco which has everything
Road runs right along beach for almost entire length so great free access anywhere, but watch valuables in car, they will get stolen.
Some shops in Hermosa, but you are better off renting in Jaco, better selection.
Once again, everything can be found in Jaco
Flat? This wave is almost never flat even the smallest day of the year is rippable, but of course big barrels are more preferable. When your on your break all tired out from surfing go with the cheap beer, cheap smokes, cheap women. Did I say that? Practice your spanish. "Me gusta sus pechugas."
